What is immediate care?

Immediate care is an area of medicine that treats non-life-threatening medical conditions. Illnesses and injuries can happen at any time. Though the severity of an illness or injury varies, some situations benefit from medical care, but not necessarily a trip to the emergency room or an in-office visit.

At Anchor Point Medical & Wellness Center, the team knows your medical needs don’t stop. Through their telehealth services, the team makes itself available to provide care when you need it. That includes evenings and weekends.

What conditions benefit from immediate care?

Any non-life-threatening illness or injury benefits from immediate care services with the team at Anchor Point Medical & Wellness Center. The primary care practice provides immediate care services for all ages — from infants to older adults.

Conditions that benefit from immediate care include:

• Flu, cold, or sore throat
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Earaches
• Skin rash
• Skin infections (e.g., abscess, cyst)
• Shortness of breath
• Joint pain
• Back pain
• Dehydration
• COVID-19 symptoms
• Exacerbation of diabetes, high blood pressure, or respiratory condition
• Minor cuts or lacerations

• Urinary tract infection (UTI)

Though immdediate care benefits many unexpected health needs, in some situations, you may benefit from emergency care. If you have chest pain, severe shortness of breath, or a large open wound, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. 

What can I expect during a same-day care visit?

You can expect compassionate care from your provider at Anchor Point Medical & Wellness Center during your same-day care visit. They come directly to you with all the equipment they need to test and treat your urgent health matter, and make sure to schedule ample time for your visit. 

Your provider reviews your health concerns and medical history and performs a physical exam. They may do on-site testing, such as:

• A strep test
• Flu test
• Urinalysis
• Blood glucose check
• Blood pressure check
• Electrocardiogram (EKG)
• Testing for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
• COVID-19 testing

For COVID-19 testing, the team may conduct your interview over the phone or via their telehealth service, then come to you to perform the test.

What are immediate care treatments?

During your telehealth visit, the nurse practitioner will develop a plan with you that optimizes a speedy recovery for your immediate care needs.

Your provider may request that you get further testing. This could include laboratory testing or imaging like X-rays; your provider will then interpret the results and develop a plan that best suits you. 

They also provide education and advice for treatment.
